Judge denies request to keep Schroeder's financial records in bankruptcy case private

A bankruptcy judge on Wednesday turned down Assemblyman Robert Schroeder's bid to keep financial records he must file in the case out of public view. A lawyer for Schroeder, who is also facing criminal charges for writing bad checks, had asked that the Washington Township legislator be allowed to declare any documents he must provide to a court-appointed trustee "confidential."

Indicted Assemblyman Schroeder to face two hearings over bankruptcy, sanctions

The Washington Township politician — indicted on charges he wrote millions in bad checks and named in dozens of lawsuits since — had been scheduled to appear before Judge Novalyn Winfield in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Newark on Monday morning. But Schroeder’s case was adjourned Monday morning, and split off into two separate upcoming hearings.
