Rutherford's torch once again illuminates the Borough of Trees

For some tonight will be the first time they have seen it lit up. After going dark almost two decades ago, Rutherford's torch atop the World War I Monument will now be lit once again at dusk. Today, Sept. 25, Materials Conservation Co. LLC preservationist, screwed in the light bulb and replaced the refurbished glass torch globe which will now glow brightly at night.

Police arrested Paterson resident Nicholas Devenio, 32, after he allegedly broke into a Hobard Avenue home and left it in disarray. Security footage of Devenio in the midst of the crime allowed police to track him all the way down to Cape May.
