With four days to go, Rutherford cancels its Winter Festival

With less than four days to go until the scheduled event, the borough council voted unanimously to pull the plug on its Feb. 1 Winter Festival. The event, planned for the day before the Super Bowl, was nearly cancelled at the last council meeting as members were hesitant to spend money after sponsorships failed to materialize like anticipated.

Rutherford Downtown Partnership members asked to pay fees before voting on 2014 budget

The Rutherford Downtown Partnership has distributed its annual budget to its 101 members, who have until Jan. 31 to pay their license fees in order to vote on the proposed $229,000 budget. The move comes only about two months after the 2013 budget was approved by the borough council, with the process experiencing a number of setbacks over the past year.

Rutherford School Board president and one other trustee resign
