Rutherford cops say drunk dad carrying baby fell in intersection

An allegedly intoxicated man fell while crossing at an intersection in Rutherford as he was carrying his 6-month-old daughter.

According to local police, Matthew A. George, 32, fell over while crossing Montross Avenue and Union Avenue at around 6:00 p.m. on Thursday evening. Police say that in the process, he fell onto his 4-year-old son, and the infant sustained a head injury.

The children were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center. Police subsequently charged George with endangering the welfare of children, and he was released on $50,000 bond.
