It was merriment all around Sunday when the Bergen County Historical Society celebrated the 282nd birthday of George Washington at the historic Steuben House in River Edge. A Washington reenactor danced to the rhythm of a fiddle and hammered dulcimer. Other performers also read poems, explained what women’s gestures with folding fans meant and put on a show with a wooden puppet of Washington.
