Bergen Bike Tour 2010 to benefit Tomorrow's Children FundBERGEN COUNTY, N.J. - The 2010 Bergen Bike Tour will be held on Sunday, September 26, at Darlington County Park in Mahwah, New Jersey. Proceeds will support the Tomorrow's Children's Fund and the Volunteer Center of Bergen County, both of which have been the beneficiaries of this event for the past fifteen years.

The event includes 50, 25, and 10-mile routes for cyclists of every level that wind through scenic areas of 16 northern Bergen County towns. All routes begin and end at Darlington Park, culminating with a festive family picnic.

50-mile cyclists start at 8:00 AM, 25-milers at 9:00 AM, and 10 milers at 10:30 AM. Check-in is a half-hour before each ride starts.

The children's portion of the event will feature a special "Kids' Ride" which will be held at 10:45 AM for children 10 and under. Children riding big wheels, tricycles and young riders not quite ready for the 10-mile route are welcome to participate. Fire trucks will be on-site for children to view and explore, and there will be a special visit from "Sparky" the fire dog.

Following the cycling events, a family fun picnic will be held from 11 AM-12:30 PM featuring a DJ, clowns, games, and a home-cooked barbeque. Massage therapists will be available to help soothe cyclists' aching muscles. Raffle tickets will be available at $5 each for a chance to win one of two Jamis bicycles – a Satellite Sport valued at $650 and Explorer I valued at $375. Door prizes and raffle prizes will be awarded at noon.

Registration is $35 per adult rider ($40 after September 17); $70 for a family of four. Children under 10 are free. Non-cyclists attending the picnic only are just $5. All registered riders who raise a minimum of $100 by the date of the event will receive a long-sleeved T-shirt and goody bag while supplies last. All riders will be provided with breakfast courtesy of Dunkin' Donuts as well as a picnic lunch after the ride.

For the fourth year in a row, TD Bank has contributed $5,000 as Diamond Sponsor of the Bergen Bike Tour. Phil Murphy, chairman of the Bike Tour says, "TD Bank's involvement will help to make this year's event the biggest success ever in support of our two charities."

"Each year, the Bike Tour turns over an average of 80% of the event's proceeds to the Volunteer Center and Tomorrow's Children", Murphy continued. "This is a rate that far surpasses many events of this kind, and we are very proud of our philanthropic efficiency. We are optimistic that with corporate and community help and participation, we can exceed that in 2010."
