ENGLEWOOD, N.J. - A Bogota man was arrested on Wednesday in connection with a hit-and-run accident in Englewood the previous day, which has landed a 54-year-old woman in critical condition at Hackensack University Medical Center.

On Tuesday, June 30, at approximately 6:15 p.m., the Englewood Police Department responded to a call of a pedestrian struck in an apparent hit and run collision near the intersection of Humphrey Street and W. Englewood Avenue in Englewood, N.J.

Authorities report that according to witnesses on the scene, the driver of a dump truck pulling a flat bed construction trailer was driving east on W. Englewood Avenue when it struck the pedestrian, who was attempting to enter her vehicle which was parked on the south side of W. Englewood Avenue.

The pedestrian, Seon H. Ya, age 54, was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center where she remains in critical condition, having suffered serious bodily injury. Authorities say that following the collision, the driver left the scene.

On Wednesday, July 1, at approximately 12:15 p.m., the Englewood Police Department received information which led their officers, along with members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit, to the location of a vehicle fitting the description of the truck and trailer involved in the hit and run collision.

Upon closer inspection of the vehicles, officers reportedly observed damage to the dump truck and flat bed construction trailer consistent with the damage to Seon Ha's vehicle.

According to authorities, a subsequent check into the individual driving the truck and trailer on the date of the accident indicated that they had been driven that day by Miguel Castillo, 34, of Bogota, N.J.

Castillo was located at a job site in Teaneck, N.J. and subsequently placed under arrest.

Castillo was charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving serious bodily injury, a crime of third degree. He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail Annex in lieu of $35,000.00 bail, no 10% option, set by Englewood Municipal Court Judge James E. Dow, Jr.
