Bergen Youth Symphony Orchestra to feature special guest performer

Bergen Youth OrchestraEMERSON, N.J. - The Bergen Youth Orchestra, the oldest youth orchestra in northern New Jersey, will perform the final concert of its season on Saturday, May 22 at 7:00 p.m. at the Emerson Junior/Senior High School Auditorium, located at 131 Main Street in Emerson.

All three sections of the Bergen Youth Orchestra will perform: BYO Philharmonia and BYO Symphony under Music Director Eugene Minor, and BYO Junior Strings under conductor Joseph Dubbiosi. The concert will include Stamitz's Viola Concerto and excerpts from Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet, among other orchestral works, with a special guest performance by renowned violist Joanna Hood.

"It is truly an honor for us to perform in the presence of Joanna Hood, a beloved musician and teacher," said Eugene Minor, Music Director. "It is inspiring to see someone who really loves what they do perform live. She is a great role model for our young aspiring musicians."

Since 1986, Ms. Hood has played with the Lafayette String Quartet, which she co-founded in Detroit Michigan. She is principal viola with Victoria's Galiano Ensemble, as well as violist with the Loma Mar Quartet, and frequently plays with The Orchestra of St. Luke's in New York.
