Storm knocks tree into Cresskill home

CRESSKILL — An oak tree fell against the backside of a house on Jefferson Avenue damaging the attic during a severe rain storm on Oct. 7, but nobody in the home was injured.

Funeral for Nicholas Oresko of Cresskill, World War II hero, set for Thursday

Funeral services will be held Thursday for Nicholas Oresko, the World War II Medal of Honor hero who died at the age of 96. Oresko was an Army master sergeant when, badly wounded, he wiped out two enemy bunkers near Tettingen, Germany, during the Battle of the Bulge.
