Dumont man pleads guilty to fatally shooting ex-girlfriend with rifle

Jordan Turner, 25, admitted in Superior Court in Hackensack that he shot 22-year-old Heather Reyes of Bergenfield twice at his home on Feb. 26, 2011. Danielle Grootenboer, an assistant Bergen County prosecutor, said she will recommend a 45-year prison term for Turner when he is sentenced Sept. 5.

Man found dead after Bergenfield house fire; mother, firefighter injured

A man was found dead in a three-alarm house fire Sunday. Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said the cause of the fire didn’t appear to be suspicious. Police from the Bergen County Bomb Squad were seen taking several shotguns, unmarked boxes and a small black plastic bag out of the house.
